I want to join ONSA from Dubai but I keep worrying about the practical side — will I even find the right fabric and basic tools here the way I would back home? I don't want to join and then get stuck because I can't source what the lessons need.
ONSA's Answer
Honestly, Meera, I'd rather tell you the truth than something polished — we don't have a ready list of fabric shops or tool suppliers in Dubai yet. What I can tell you with full confidence is that our techniques don't depend on one specific brand of fabric or a tool you can only find in India. Start with whatever cotton, thread and basic tools you can source locally — a nearby fabric or craft shop is genuinely enough to begin practicing on. Your hands are what improve, not the exact material in front of them. And you won't be figuring this out completely alone — students who've joined us from Dubai have started exactly where you are and are now stitching confidently for themselves and their family with whatever they could find locally. As more students join us from Dubai and the Gulf, that local knowledge keeps getting shared inside the community itself, so it gets easier for the next person after you. You don't need everything sorted before you start. You just need to start.
